Field School

Have you ever been interested in working on a campaign? Well here's your shot! Coming up, the Champlain College Republicans will host a Field School for Vermont College Republican members. Alden Guptill and Jeffrey Bartley of the Vermont Republican Party will be teaching attendees the basics in grassroot organization development, voter id, Get Out the Vote, and volunteer recruitment.

The Vermont College Republicans and Champlain College Republicans would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Representative Cola Hudson.

Representative Hudson died unexpectedly this afternoon; presumably of heart complications. He was the longest serving member of the Vermont State House of Representatives (elected in 1973), a very well respected friend of the Republican Party, and a dedicated Vermonter. He was 81.

Doors are closed and the voting has started!

And no one put it better than Aaron Laroche, Chairman of the Vermont College Republicans:

"Let the Mortal Kombat.. errrr, Iowa Caucus begin!"

They're back!

We have a motto here at the Champlain College Republicans... "Let's not focus on the fact that you came late to the party, but rather embrace the fact that you came at all." And by golly, for the first time in a couple of years, the Vermont College Republicans held their Convention this weekend!

A lot was acccomplished, and it was awesome to see so many Vermont Republican College Students together working towards a common goal.

Vermont's own Governor Jim Douglas stopped by and addressed the Convention. Also, Mr. Schiavone, the National Committeeman from the Vermont Republican Party surprised us all and showed up with his lovely wife too! It really was a great time.

Students from Champlain College, St. Michael's College, Middlebury College and Johnson State College took the time on a Saturday... a Saturday late in the semester mind you, to elect new officers and begin to build what is going to be a truly outstanding organization!

The Vermont College Republicans are holding their annual convention tomorrow and you don't want to miss it!

College Republicans from Middlebury, St. Michaels, Johnson State College, Champlain College, the University of Vermont, and the Vermont Law School will gather to elect a new state Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and a Public Relations Director.

Governor Jim Douglas will also be stopping by at 1pm to say hello, so be sure to arrive early!

The saga continues with the Champlain Current, and we swear that perhaps this appears to be fun for the Champlain Current staff. We've asked to sit down one on one and discuss our concerns with Danielle Frawley - but alas she appears not to feel comfortable with a chit-chat.

If you would like to attend our editorial meeting tomorrow, Monday, at 3:30, my staff and I would be happy to discuss any issues or questions in the time we have.

That's fine of course, we'll just attend all of the Editorial meetings, including the one this afternoon.

Many people on campus speak very highly of Ms. Frawley, so please forgive us when we say we are surprised that she is not eager to put this situation behind her and move towards a more balanced publication.

Ms. Frawley also defines herself as "Conservative" on her Facebook profile. Makes you wonder what's really going on with the Champlain Current.
